Importance of our Work in the Home

The 'world' lives contrary to revealed truths.  Aren't you glad to know why we're here and what our most important responsibilities are?  These principles have stood the test of time.  They are important reminders when we need them as well as effective teaching material for the rising generation.

"The most important work you will do for the Church will be within the walls of your own home."  - Harold B. Lee

"I have commanded you to bring up your children in light and truth."  - Doctrine and Covenants 93:40

They shall also teach their children to pray, and to walk uprightly before the Lord."  - Doctrine and Covenants 68:28

Your Calling is to Bless Lives

On Sunday, our church program shared the following message from Elder Henry B. Eyring.  I felt it was an important reminder as to what we are all about and the purpose for which we do all we do.  Hope you enjoy as much as I did.  We are SO blessed to have leaders to teach and guide us!

"You are called to represent the Savior.  Your voice to testify becomes the same as His voice, your hands to lift the same as His hands.  His work is to bless His Father's spirit children with the opportunity to choose eternal life.  So, your calling is to bless lives.

"Your call has eternal consequences for others and for you.  In the world to come, thousands may call your name blessed, even more than the people you serve here.  They will be the ancestors and the descendants of those who chose eternal life because of something you said or did, or even what you were...You see, there are no small callings to represent the Lord."

Keeping the Sabbath Day Holy

In my childhood home we observed the Sabbath Day and were taught to keep it holy.  Ofttimes we'd see friends outside playing and/or neighbors going for recreational activities.  We knew, thanks to parental and prophetic teachings, to keep the day holy (and different from the rest of the week) but it wasn't until later that I understood, more in-depth, why.

While serving as a missionary in Mexico - in the late 80's - we had a question come from a member of another faith.  He sincerely wanted to know why we honored the sabbath on Sunday instead of on Saturday.
