He Lives!

And...#BecauseHeLives we, too, shall live again!

This Easter we focus on the living Christ and his desire to help and heal us as we seek and follow him.  I share my own witness as to this reality.  He's helped me overcome things that I could not have overcome on my own; which have been many!

He is real.  I know He lives and cares deeply for each of us - including for me personally.

I know that He is with us more often than we realize and is ready and willing to help us as we humble ourselves and turn to Him in sincerity of heart.  There are no lost causes with Him.  He is eager to come to our aid and teach us peace. 

I wish, for all of us this Easter season, a time of reflection as to the importance of His life and teachings.  They are the ONLY way back to our Heavenly Home!

Every Trial and Experience is Necessary for our Salvation

All intelligent beings who are crowned with crowns of glory, immortality, and eternal lives must pass through every ordeal appointed for intelligent beings to pass through, to gain their glory and exaltation. Every calamity that can come upon mortal beings will be suffered to come upon the few, to prepare them to enjoy the presence of the Lord. If we obtain the glory that Abraham obtained, we must do so by the same means that he did. No Greater Joy….

 3 John 1:4  "I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth."

All and any sacrifices are worth it if, in the end, this is the outcome. But, for those whose children haven't chosen this path the heartache is real.  Yet, the promises of the Lord are sure that if they remain true and faithful they will be blessed with comfort and peace amidst the struggles.

When We're "Heavy Laden"

Have you ever felt heavy laden?  Burdened with a load of care?  Discouraged, depressed, overwhelmed, overworked, sad, lonely, left alone?  I have.  And...it hurts.

Life can be very, very hard at times.  I've had one of those days today.

Trials and Tribulations

Most of us have experienced some type of heartache and grief.  It is part of the mortal experience and trial of our faith. One of the things that has best helped me through those days, weeks and even years of trial is truth; truth based-upon solid doctrine.

A favorite quote of mine is from Elder Orson F. Whitney who said: “No pain that we suffer, no trial that we experience is wasted. … All that we suffer and all that we endure, especially when we endure it patiently, builds up our characters, purifies our hearts, expands our souls, and makes us more tender and charitable. … It is through sorrow and suffering, toil and tribulation, that we gain the education that we come here to acquire.”

That understanding has strengthened me to put my trust in God and endure more faithfully.

Happiness is a Choice???

I've often heard said that "Happiness is a Choice".  If that were fully true then ...wouldn't we all be happy?  Don't we desire that?  Do we 'choose' depression or fear or trials?  Perhaps so, but...that's not what this post is about.

In my journey I have learned that happiness may be a 'choice' but....it's not that easy.  We're here to learn from our own experiences.  If we didn't know pain - we couldn't know joy etc.

More than just being a choice - I think it's a combination of factors that we're trying to resolve.  Emotional and physical healing are part of that.  So is understanding true principles.

Have you ever been the recipient of someone telling you to 'get over it' or....'just let it go'?  Did that counsel heal it all?  Or....are there more things to learn from it?
