One Great Thing...

"One great thing the Lord requires of each of us is to provide a home where a happy, positive influence for good exists.  In future years the costliness of home furnishings or the number of bathrooms will not matter much, but what will matter significantly is whether our children felt love and acceptance in the home.  It will greatly matter whether there was happiness and laughter, or bickering and contention."

"There has never been and there never will be a satisfactory substitute for the home established by the God of Heaven.  If this nation is to endure, the home must be safeguarded, strengthened, and restored to it's rightful importance."  -President Benson

Thanks to all of you who are striving for these lofty ideals.  It's not always easy but the quest is worth it.  And, we know that the Lord will help us all along the way - not just in the end.  He desires to partner with us in raising these special souls in truth and light.

Blessings to you all.

Loved your thoughts today; it was a good reminder. I have always wanted a Christ-centered home and basically things went well while raising my childeren. Even now it is important to have our home reflect the love we have for our Savior; so that our children and grandchildren can feel a good feeling when they are here. of course this is a life time process.
Blessings to you and thanks for the sweet post.

Thank you, LeAnn; well-said. It's a continual quest, isn't it, to make our homes heaven here on earth? One of my favorite quotes is attributed to Daryl Hoole (LDS organizing expert) who said "If we want to have our homes in heaven, hereafter, we must have heaven in our homes here." I loved that and have posted it on my fridge as a reminder of what my most important work in this life should be. Blessings to you too! Heidi
