Some years ago I read a chapter in a book entitled "Impeccable with your word." It left a deep impression on my mind as to the importance of our clear and honest communication.
We don't see much of it in the news or with our politicians or even in some local communication. Yet, the importance of it in home and family life, with those we love and in our neighborhoods and with friends, is still vital for peace and harmony within our lives.
God has taught us to be honest, virtuous, worthy, clean and pure. These are His traits and the traits we must have if we are to live with Him again.
It's no wonder that the world has it all backwards and that, in doing so, things are in a mess.
I often wonder why most of those who are interviewed as our voted-in representatives can't be clear in their communication. No, it's not that they 'can't', it's that they 'won't.' If they're asked a 'yes' or 'no' question, they skirt around it and often never answer it.
We need not wonder why some of the rising generation do the same. They haven't had the 'honest Abe' examples to teach them right from wrong.
But, we can do so in our own homes. We can apologize when we're wrong, we can (and must) share truths and examples of honesty, integrity, selflessness, kindness, hope, virtue, love and service. We must teach our children to honor and respect those around them, to see the good in people, and to always seek for truth - no matter what else is happening around them.
Their best examples must come from us and from those who share our beliefs and who walk in the admonition of the Lord. The 'humble followers' of Christ will not usually make the news - but, they are the true heroes to whom we look for examples and guidance.
As we seek to be more 'impeccable' with our own words - we can follow the example of the disciples of Christ who 'did not multiply many words'. 3 Nephi 19:24
